Temporary Strainers
Specifically designed for the filtration of debris, in the protection of fluid and gas handling equipment during the commissioning and start up periods.
The strainers are easily installed between flange without any modification to the surrounding pipework and without the need for special spool pieces.
With its robust design these strainers are constructed to work at high differential pressures.
Temporary strainers are clearly seen to be in position by virtue of its signal arm, elongated for easy identification. The flow passes from inside to out, collecting debris in the cage facilitating removal. If required strainers can be manufactures for reverse flow or to suit customer specification.
Specifications:
- Sizes range from 1” up to 48” and are suitable for bolting between ASME B16.5 Class 150, 300, 600 B.S10 and DIN standards for flat and raised face flanges.
- Also available for ring joint or tongued and grooved type flanges.
- An elongated signal arm is provided to give easy indication of the strainers location. Perforated strainers are available in a range of perforation sizes with 2mm diameter perforations as standard.
- Normal construction is mild steel sheets, to BS 1449, and stainless steel BS 970 but monel and other materials are available on request.
For finer filtration stainless steel woven wire gauze to BS 970 is supplied spotwelded to the internal surface of the strainer, which ensures that they are completely supported.
Mesh lining is available from 20 mesh (0.037 aperture) up to 80 mesh (.007”).
If even finer degrees of filtration are requires inserts can be supplied in sizes down to 300 mesh (.002 aperture) |

SPECIALTY FILTRATION |
SIMPLEX & DUPLEX FILTERS
Plenty Filters have a standard range of basket type strainers of simple robust construction. These can be supplied as Simplex (single) basket type for general applications where the process flow is intermittent or can be stopped for element cleaning such as tanker loading or drum filling. Alternatively they can be of Duplex (dual) basket type incorporating two 100% capacity filtration chambers connected by an integral flow changeover valve permitting flow to be switched between chambers, enabling basket cleaning to be performed without interruption to process flow such as is necessary on cooling water systems or gland sealing systems. |

Small Duplex
A range of small Duplex strainers for use in pipelines operating continuously where a single (Simplex) filter can not be used as the flow would have to be interrupted to clean the element. Twin filtration chambers are each rated for 100% capacity and an integral flow changeover valve permits element removal and cleaning without interruption of flow.
- Single lever action on changeover valve eliminates possibility of hydraulic shock and accidental interruption of the flow.
- Quick release covers eliminate the need for tools for operation.
- Top mounted covers eliminate the need for draining basket chambers for element removal.
Sizes : 1" to 4" bore, flanged to ANSI 250 FF and 300RF. Can be drilled to BS and DIN standards. Also available with screwed connections 1" and 1½" sizes.

SELF CLEANING & BACKFLUSHING RANGE
Backflushing
For water systems requiring continous operation where supervision is not available Plenty Filters supply a range of automatic backwashing filters. These use a small percentage of the process flow for intermittent flushing of the filter screen allowing continuous uninterrupted service without operator involvement.
This type of filter is ideal for applications containing large amounts of contaminate such as cooling water in steel mills or where manpower is not available such as remote cooling water intakes to process plant.
---
SelfCleaning
For handling fluids with a commercial value where loss of product during cleaning is to be avoided, or fluids where contact during basket cleaning is to be avoided for health and safety reasons, Plenty Filters supply self cleaning filters. These differ from backwash filters as they use mechanical scrapers to clean the element. The cleaning is performed whilst the unit is still on-line without interrupting the flow either manual or automatic rotation of the scraper device. |
|
Fig. |
Self Cleaning
Cleaned by one turn of the external handle, either manually or automatically, without interruption of the flow means it is not necessary to open up the pipeline preventing liquid contamination and increasing operator safety. The mechanical cleaning action and low liquid loss during debris dischargemake this design suitable for high value fluids as well as minimising waste disposal concerns.
A wide range of automatic control equipment is available as an option making this unit ideal for critical applications and reduced operator involvement.
Sizes: ¾" to 6" bore with single element. Flanged connections throughout or Screwed on ¾" to 2" sizes. Standard ranges for 14 Bar and 40 Bar operation. Filtration down to 50 micron.
Materials : Cast iron, Cast steel and stainless steel bodies with stainless steel screens.
Design Codes : ANSI B.31.4, ASME VIII or BS.5500. |
